The Greens/EFA and the EU-Heinrich Böll Foundation organise a conference in Brussels. S ince the EU Commission included nuclear energy in the new EU Climate Strategy, we think that a serious discussion is necessary about "Nuclear power: asset or barrier for the energy transition?".
During the evening, the global status of nuclear energy will be presented. We will discuss whether nuclear power is an asset or a barrier for energy transition. Special focus will be put on the situation in France and Belgium. In a second part of the evening the developments and challenges of management and disposal of nuclear waste are being discussed. We are happy to have quite prominent speakers from different countries and backgrounds.
