We, Members of the European Parliament and members of the Group of Friends of European Ukraine, wish to welcome today’s statement of Petro Poroshenko, President of Ukraine, and his appeal to fight against corruption with greater determination.
We wish to express our full support to the work done by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU) lead by Artem Sytnyk. We are convinced that in order to strengthen NABU’s efforts, the process of establishment of the Anti-Corruption Court must be speeded up.
We also join President Poroshenko in his request to the Verkhovna Rada and we expect that the present draft law “On anti-corruption courts” is removed from the agenda and will be substantially reviewed.
Finally, we wish to emphasise that we expect to see a truly consolidated and cooperative work of all state institutions and all decision makers of Ukraine in genuine fight against corruption. This challenge undoubtedly stands as a critical element on the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda and, even more importantly, it remains to be a core requirement and expectation of the people in today’s post-Maidan Ukraine.
