European Parliament signs law on visa liberalisation for Ukraine

The President of the European Parliament, Antonio Tajani, has today officially signed the law establishing visa liberalisation for Ukraine . Greens/EFA MEP and Euronest Co-President Rebecca Harms warmly welcomes this long-awaited and overdue step towards visa freedom for Ukraine:

"At long last, the European Union will open its borders and welcome Ukrainians, something they very much deserve. The exemption from the visa obligation is a huge success, especially for the Ukrainian citizens who are passionately pushing and fighting for the European idea and values."

"Since the Revolution of Dignity, Ukraine has undertaken impressive reforms, especially considering the war they have been forced into by Putin. I share the joy of Ukrainians about the visa-free regime. I also want to take this moment to call on Ukrainian authorities to not step off the path of reform. Together with the numerous friends of Ukraine in the European Parliament, we will continue to support our colleagues in the Verkhovna Rada and in civil society in their work for reforms, for independent and well-functioning state institutions and against corruption. We believe in Ukraine."
